LIFE AgroPaper® is a project focused on reducing the use of plastic mulch in agriculture by replacing it with mulching paper. Work has been done on the production and demonstration of different types of paper, 100% biodegradable and compostable, and machinery is an important part of the laying process.
Thus, during the development of LIFE AgroPaper®, an agreement was made with the Italian agricultural machinery company, FORIGO ROTER ITALIA, for the adaptation of a mulching machine for the application of paper mulch on one and two tables simultaneously.
There have been 3 important milestones that have given rise to this new adapted machinery:
MILESTONE 1 – Study and design of some components (tensioning arch, reel support…) to modify our STF mulching machine for the application of paper mulch on one and two tables simultaneously. This was prompted after detecting some problems in the application of AgroPaper® in the first tests carried out with its standard machine.
MILESTONE 2 – Carrying out the necessary trials to test the correct operation of the STF mulching machine with the modifications indicated in milestone 1 for the application of paper mulch on one and two tables in an experimental field at its facilities in Ostiglia (ITALY).
MILESTONE 3 – Carrying out the necessary trials to test the correct operation of the STF mulching machine prepared for testing on Florette farms in Spain, with the intervention of a technician and the technical service in the trials carried out.
