AgroPaper® is the ideal mulching solution
for an agriculture that is respectful
with the environment.

LIFE AgroPaper® is a project targeting the substitution of the plastic mulch used in agriculture by a compostable and biodegradable paper mulch developed by Smurfit Kappa. The project has the backing of the European Commission and aims to prove that the paper mulch is a sustainable solution for the environment, helping the earth’s preservation.

The two countries with most hectares devoted to agricultural use are Spain and France with 120.039ha and 100.000ha, each.

VALIDATION PROCESS

To prove that the product works as required, 15.4h are going to be mulched in Spain and France. The locations chosen to make the paper demonstrations the paper mulch are the following: Murcia (Spain), Navarra (Spain), Normandy (France) and Burgundy (France). The crops chosen to carry out these demonstrations are lettuce, pepper, tomato, corn and artichoke.
